MARKET AND WRAPPER PRODUCER
The United States is the largest premium cigar consumer market in the world. Connecticut Shade — grown under cloth in the Connecticut Valley since 1900 — is among the mildest wrappers there are, used by Macanudo, Davidoff, Ashton and dozens of other houses. The embargo on Cuba (1962) paradoxically stimulated the Nicaraguan and Dominican industries, which absorbed the exiled Cuban master torcedores.
