Sommelier Note
Germany was a cigar centre in the nineteenth century — Bremen, Bünde, Bavaria — and a machine industry remains. Hand-rolling was revived there by people: a Cologne woman trained in Cuba, a Cuban roller settled in Dresden, a Bavarian family that never stopped. This atlas opens here not a growing country but a rolling place, like the Bahamas.
