VegaFina is one of the best-selling brands in continental Europe: a French or Spanish smoker meets it in almost every tobacconist.
It was born in the 1990s within the group that owns the great factory of La Romana, with a clear intention: to offer a Dominican cigar that is consistent, mild, available everywhere and at a stable price. That is exactly what it does, and that positioning earns it the disdain of part of the enthusiast crowd — the same disdain every brand receives when it succeeds on a large scale.
The profile is mild to medium: pale wrapper, notes of cedar, almond and cream, a burn without surprises. The range has broadened over the years towards fuller series, produced in smaller volumes, which raised the brand in connoisseurs' esteem without changing what it is.
The atlas gains by citing it as it is: the cigar tens of thousands of people actually smoke, rather than the one people talk about.
