La Barba changed country without changing its name. Tony Bellatto and Craig Rossi founded the house in the early 2010s; the first cigar, La Barba Red, appeared in 2013.
It was rolled then in Honduras, at the Aladino factory in Danlí — the Eiroa family's, the former cinema this atlas recounts on the Asylum entry.
In 2014 Purple came out with Dominican tobaccos, and the house went into partnership with Tabacalera William Ventura. Red followed: it left Honduras for that same workshop. It is the factory where Robert Caldwell has his blends made, and the atlas holds both houses.
The ranges are designated by colours rather than by names — Red, Purple — which is a way of promising nothing before the cigar has spoken.
On 26 September 2022, a fire destroyed Tabacalera William Ventura; production resumed at satellite workshops and at El Maestro, and the new factory reopened in March 2024 under the same name. The factory has its own entry: Tabacalera William Ventura.
