Dona Flor was born of the meeting between Cuban know-how and the tobacco of Bahia. The house Menendez Amerino settled in the Recôncavo with the idea of applying Havana rolling methods to a Brazilian leaf, which nobody had really attempted with that rigour.
The result is one of the most singular cigars on the continent: the construction is Cuban — classic formats, careful rolling, controlled burn — but the taste stays Brazilian, fruity and tart, with that mata fina sweetness nothing else gives. It is a bridge between two traditions rather than an imitation.
The name comes from a novel by Jorge Amado, the writer of Bahia. That is no affectation: the house lays claim to its regional roots as much as to its imported method, and that is exactly what the atlas seeks to show — a terroir, a technique, and what is born of their meeting.

Dona Flor Selección
Cuban rolling over a Bahia leaf. The burn is controlled like a Havana's, the taste stays Brazilian: fruity, tart, sweet without heaviness.

Dona Flor Alonso Menendez
The top line, on longer-fermented leaves. The Brazilian fruit turns to cooked fruit, and the structure holds all the way through.
