The Turrents have been growing the tobacco of San Andrés since the beginning of the twentieth century, and were long better known as planters than as makers: their wrapper dresses cigars the world over, often under other bands. Casa Turrent is the line through which the family at last signs its own work.
The house plays on that rare advantage — having its own leaves, several harvests in reserve, and the possibility of building blends around a tobacco it masters end to end. Its vintage series, based on identified crop years, are one of the few examples of that exercise outside Cuba.
Mexico remains a discreet producer on the scale of the continent, dwarfed in volume by its neighbours. It makes up for it in specificity: no other country produces that wrapper, and the whole value of the Mexican terroir lies in that leaf.
Range Depth
Casa Turrent Serie 1880
The family's top line, on long-kept tobaccos. Dark cocoa, coffee, a depth only a reserve of harvests makes possible.
Toro
Casa Turrent Origins
A series pairing Mexican tobacco with those of other producing countries, to show what the valley's wrapper brings to each. Didactic, and successful.
Robusto
🥃 Pairings
Reposado tequila
The woody agave of a reposado holds the power of the 1880 without masking it.
Veracruz coffee
Grown on the same slopes as the tobacco: the most local pairing there is.
