Annual Revenue
The market is domestic, under a state monopoly. Export is beginning: distribution agreements in three markets in 2024, then, on 23 July 2025, an exclusive worldwide agreement outside mainland China between China Tobacco International (HK) and China Tobacco Sichuan Industrial, signed at the Shifang factory.

Sommelier Note
Sichuan has grown tobacco since the Qing dynasty, and Shifang, two hours north of Chengdu, for four centuries according to the trade press. A Cuban seed was introduced there in the early 2000s; local varieties grow elsewhere; trials are under way in Hainan. The factory also buys leaf in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Indonesia. This atlas sets neither zone nor variety: it awaits a source that describes the fields, not only the factory.
