Wolfertz GmbH, a cigar merchant based in Solingen (Germany), descends from a cutlery house established in 1919; it has imported cigars since 1999 under the direction of Thorsten Wolfertz, says an interview given to StarkeZigarren.
In 2019, the house launched its first house line, Aventura, rolled at the Raíces Cubanas factory in Danlí (Honduras), run by Hugo Cesar; the blend was developed with Ralph Montero, master blender at Alec Bradley, says Wolfertz. It had also launched a second house line, Barrio Viejo: this was sold, together with the whole of Wolfertz's cigar business, Xikar accessories and spirits, to the Belgian group VCF (Vandermarliere Cigar Family), for its German subsidiary, on 1 January 2023; Thorsten Wolfertz joined VCF as head of commercial activities. Barrio Viejo is sold today under its name alone, without the Wolfertz brand.
VCF, led by Fred Vandermarliere, already owned Oliva (since 2016) and had just acquired Wörmann Cigars when it folded Wolfertz into its German distribution structure, says smokersplanet.de. In 2026, Cigarworld.de sells only the Aventura line under the Wolfertz name.
