Viaje made rarity a rule, then its only way of working. Andre Farkas founded the brand in 2008 on two regular ranges, Platino and Oro.
Alongside them he released small runs — Stuffed Turkey, Skull and Bones, Daisy Cutter — and found that his customers were buying those more than the standing catalogue. In 2012 he drew the conclusion, and it was a radical one: he dropped the regular ranges and now makes limited runs only.
It is a choice that costs. A house with no permanent catalogue cannot be stocked reliably by a retailer, cannot be judged from one year to the next, and leaves the smoker with a cigar he will not find again. Viaje accepts that, and it is what defines it in this atlas.
Everything is rolled at Aganorsa, in Estelí — the house this atlas holds as Aganorsa Leaf, which grows its own leaf. The taste follows: the tobacco is Nicaraguan, and the brand makes no secret of it.
Range Depth
Skull and Bones
The house's most followed series, taken up year after year under different subtitles. Each release is limited and is not reissued as it was.
Daisy Cutter · "?"
Oro and Platino
The two original regular ranges, from 2008. They were dropped in 2012 when the house chose to make limited runs only — they come back only intermittently.
