Regius is a London house. Akhil Kapacee founded it in 2010 with a precise intention: to offer the British market carefully made cigars at a price the country does not usually see. The United Kingdom is one of the markets where tobacco duty weighs heaviest, and Havanas cost more there than elsewhere in Europe.
It sold at home first, then set its sights on the United States from 2012.
It owns no factory. Its cigars come out of Estelí, at Plasencia — the family that has its own entry in this atlas and that has long rolled for others as well as for itself. This is the ordinary arrangement of European houses: the signature on one side, the workshop on the other, eight thousand kilometres away.
One English particularity is worth noting: the Orchant Seleccion, made for Mitchell Orchant of the London retailer C.Gars. A shop band on a branded cigar is a practice the continent barely knows, and that London has long followed.

Regius Black Label
The line by which the British market knows the house, rolled in Estelí. The black label is its visual signature.

Regius Sun Grown
The fuller side, under a wrapper grown without shade. A sun-grown leaf is thicker and better fed — it carries more flavour, and tolerates approximation less well.
