Powstanie — po-shan-yah, "uprising" in Polish — is the brand of two retailer brothers from Florida, Mike and Greg Szczepankewicz, owners of the Cigar Hustler shop in Deltona. It was born in 2015 in a way the press found worth telling: each brother composed his own blend with Esteban Disla and Skip Martin, at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño in Estelí — RoMa Craft's factory, whose entry this atlas carries —, then the shop's customers tasted both blind. Mike's Habano came out in May, Greg's Maduro in August; it was the first non-RoMa Craft brand the factory agreed to sell to several retailers.
The logo borrows from the symbols of the Polish resistance of the Second World War, and the name states the family's origin. The catalogue has since grown around wrappers: Habano, broadleaf Maduro, Connecticut, San Andrés — in perfectos and corona gordas, boxes of twenty-one, as the factory likes them.
The brothers' company, Pospiech, has also become a distributor: it carries Fable and Chogüí, two entries of this atlas. A retailer's brand, then — but with a named factory, a permanent catalogue and ten years of press, which is exactly the line this atlas drew between Sindicato and Black Swan.
