Patina — the patina copper takes, and objects long held — is a Chicago house founded in 2015 by Mo Maali, and this atlas classifies it in Nicaragua, where it is rolled. It began at Mombacho, the Granada factory whose closure this atlas tells: the first blends came out in 2017 from that colonial house at the foot of the volcano. In 2019, Maali parted from it and moved production to NACSA, in Estelí, the factory that has its own entry — the same road, in reverse, that the Mombacho house itself took a few years later, towards closure.
Since then, the catalogue is written in Estelí: Oro de Nicaragua, a regular line, an Anniversary, and in 2025 two releases — Verdigris, in collaboration with Tyler Jeffery's Viso Horny, three thousand cigars for ten shops, and Red Pill, shipped on 28 October. A house of small series named like colours and materials, in the manner of the American boutique scene.
The entry exists because the factory is named, at every step — that is the rule — and because the trade press has followed the house to this year.
