Nordlicht Prieser GbR, partners Sascha Prieser, Holger Prieser and Denis Stute, in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, in northern Germany, developed the Nordlicht brand around the beach bar that Sascha Prieser runs in Sandhausen, near Bremen. The first cigars appeared in 2017 for a small group of enthusiasts, says Starke Zigarren; the blend was formalised in 2018 (Nordlicht Toro Limitada 2018), which Sascha Prieser worked out with Kurt Brandt, a German settled in Costa Rica and creator of the Isthmus brand, says Zigarren.zone. Production stopped, then resumed in 2025 with a new blend, says Starke Zigarren. The house does not name the factory that rolls its cigars.

The Nicaraguan puro of the Nordlicht line pairs a Jalapa colorado wrapper with a double-thickness Jalapa binder and a filler blending Jalapa, Estelí and Condega, aged four years before rolling, says Noblego.de; the profile starts out almost mild, building in strength third by third, in Robusto, Gordo, Magnum and Short Torpedo vitolas. The Nordlicht Perfecto Maduro, designed for the German market, carries a dark maduro wrapper over an Estelí and Condega filler, at medium strength.
