The name was a plan. Fred Rewey launched Nomad in 2012 without owning a square metre of factory, and he did what the word announces: he changed workshop and country as the blends required.
The first cigars are Dominican, rolled at Tabacalera L&V. By 2013 he had moved to Nicaragua with Estelí Lot 1386, then the S-307 — a box-pressed cigar under an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper — blended and rolled at A.J. Fernández. Fábrica Oveja Negra, Black Label Trading's workshop, was added later. The catalogue ran to sixteen blends spread across the two countries.
The atlas files this entry under Nicaragua because that is where most of the catalogue comes from. The Dominican share, inherited from the beginnings, is real, but it is no longer the main one: the entry writes both.
In September 2018 Rewey sold the house to Chris Kelly and Kyle Hoover, the two owners of Ezra Zion. Nomad has appeared under their banner since.

Estelí Lot 1386
Rewey's first work in Nicaragua, in spring 2013 — the number designates a lot of tobacco, not a vintage.
Robusto · Toro
Connecticut Fuerte
The Dominican side of the early days, rolled at Tabacalera L&V. A pale wrapper over a filler that is not — hence the name.
