José 'Pepín' García was born in Cuba in 1950, says the house, which presents him as a third-generation master blender and says he rolled his first cigar at the age of eleven. According to the trade press, the family left Cuba in 2001 and went to Nicaragua; in 2003 it opened El Rey de los Habanos in Little Havana, Miami, a small factory co-owned by Eduardo Fernández (Aganorsa). The dates for this period vary between sources.
La Tabacalera Cubana de Estelí dates from 2006. The My Father brand was created by his son Jaime in 2008, as a dedication to his father, and the present factory opened in 2009, says the trade press. Today the house says it operates three factories (Estelí, El Paraíso in Honduras, Doral in Florida) and 24 brands.
Estelí remains the heart of production: the house's page describes a family industrial park in that city, and says that the rollers of the Miami factory are trained there by Don Pepín.
Old Henry Cigars is not a My Father brand: it is sold at Holt's, which gives the name as that of a dog, an old friend of the house, and the cigars as blended in Estelí by José Pepin García and his son Jaime. In April 2007, a review already describes them as a Don Pepin blend made for Holt's and sold only there. In October 2026, the Holt's page gives an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan longfillers, six sizes from 5.5 x 50 to 6.5 x 64, and a classic of twenty years' standing.
Range Depth
Le Bijou 1922
Torpedo (52 x 152 mm). Nicaraguan blend, Ecuadorian Habano oscuro wrapper, full strength. Notes of red cedar, macchiato coffee and cubeb pepper. The 1922 in the name is said to be the birth year of Pepín's father, says a retailer (Cigarsdirect); the house does not state this on its home page.
Torpedo · Toro · Robusto · Petit Robusto · Churchill · Magnum
My Father No.1
Ecuadorian Connecticut natural wrapper over Nicaraguan filler. Notes of cream, hazelnut and light spice. The line's name appears on the house's page; its year of launch is not given there.
Toro · Robusto · Torpedo · Belicoso · Churchill · Juniors
La Antigüedad
Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan filler. Notes of dark chocolate, cold coffee and molasses. The name ('seniority') refers, says a retailer, to an old Cuban brand whose artwork was researched; milder than the Le Bijou 1922.
Robusto · Toro · Torpedo · Churchill
Jaime García Reserva Especial
Line named after Pepín's son, Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
Flor de las Antillas
Nicaraguan puro, sun-grown wrapper; the house lists it among its other brands, its Maduro version too.
La Dueña
Line that the profile links to Janny García, the house's daughter; Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
El Centurión
Line listed by the house (H-2K-CT and Maduro versions included); Nicaraguan Habano wrapper.
Tabacos Baez
In October 2026, the retailer Cigarsdaily calls it My Father's first house brand in short filler (S.F. for short filler), but a 2010 review describes a mixed filler, about 70% long filler of Cuban seed, made from offcuts of Pepin García's production. Habano wrapper from Nicaragua over Nicaraguan binder and filler, in Robusto 5 x 50, on sale at that date, and in Corona 6 x 46 in 2010.
🥃 Pairings
Ron Flor de Caña Centenario 25 years
An aged Nicaraguan rum: a pairing of shared terroir with the cigars of Estelí, on notes of cocoa and cane.
Nicaraguan Jinotega single origin
Coffee from Jinotega, in the north of the country; its dark-fruit and cocoa notes go well with full-bodied blends.
