Monte Pascoal

Monte Pascoal is the brand of Tabacos Mata Fina, the factory Lorenzo Orsi founded in 2007 in Cruz das Almas, in the heart of the Recôncavo, with the idea of a premium Brazilian cigar that resembles nothing else because it comes only from here: one hundred percent national tobacco, Mata Fina for aroma, Mata Norte for strength, and each size with its own dose of the two. The name is that of the mount Cabral sighted in 1500, and the boxes tell the discovery of Brazil; the graphic material, says the cigar press, is printed in the Netherlands.

Everything is hand-rolled, in whole leaves; each cigar passes a check of draw, finish and wrapper colour, then waits at least three months before sale. Six sizes, in boxes of twenty-five and of ten.

Lorenzo Orsi chairs Apcab, the association of Brazil's artisanal cigar producers, which in July 2026 was bringing to the INPI a designation of origin for Mata Fina tobacco and the Recôncavo's artisanal cigars — four manufacturers, says the project, for about 85% of the country's artisanal segment.
