Ricardo Vasquez, born in Cuba, grew up in the tobacco fields and learnt the trade from the country's growers before founding Mara Cigars, says Cigarworld.de; the house does not date this founding. The brand rolls its cigars in Nicaragua. Cigarworld.de attributes its Marabunta line to the Oveja Negra factory, in Estelí, run by James and Angela Brown; Oveja Negra does not list Mara among the brands it rolls, and the house does not name its factory.
