Luciano is a Brazilian's first name, and the factory that carries it was first a Cuban's. Eradio Pichardo left Cuba in 2005, after working for Habanos S.A., and opened in February of that year a small workshop in Estelí, Dhatuey Tabacos. Luciano Meirelles comes from São Paulo and from finance — insurance, an investment fund at twenty-two, then a political consultancy in Latin America. It was Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, whose entry this atlas carries, who introduced them in 2008. In January 2009, Meirelles became Pichardo's partner, and the workshop took the name Tabacalera Pichardo.
The factory has grown without changing its nature. In 2020 it counted sixty-four rollers and bunchers, a hundred and twenty-three employees including the fields, and turned out a little over three million cigars a year. It rolls for others, and not minor ones: Crowned Heads has its Juarez made there, and Ozgener Family Cigars — the house of the son of CAO's founder — made its first cigars there in 2022, before entrusting them to Tabacalera La Alianza in November 2022.
Its own brands came late. ACE Prime was born in January 2018, with a third partner from outside the trade: Tiago Splitter, a Brazilian basketball player who went through the NBA and became a coach. The first lines came out in July 2019 — Pichardo Reserva Familiar and Classico in the family's name, Luciano The Traveler and The Dreamer in the partner's first name, MXS for athletes' signatures.
In September 2022, ACE Prime became Luciano Cigars, and the factory itself was renamed Luciano Cigar Factory. The financier's name replaced the cigar maker's on the door. This entry keeps both, because that is the story.
In April 2025, Luciano and Empresa Madeirense de Tabacos — the Azorean company that runs Fábrica de Tabaco Estrela, whose entry this atlas carries — founded Constella Group, which becomes Luciano's parent company; Luciano Meirelles presides over Constella USA. Luciano Tabacos S.A., in Estelí, also rolls for Peter James Cigars and Dalay Zigarren.
