La Flor de Cano is the brand you forget when reciting the Cuban portfolio.

Habanos, in a press release of 26 March 2015, calls it a historic Cuban brand originating in 1884, without naming a founder. Two British retailers date it to 1932 and credit it to Juan Cano, one of them specifying Juan Cano Sainz and his wife Consuela, who had the cigars rolled on their kitchen table: the two versions diverge. A British retailer writes that the standard formats were long machine-made, and that the cigars are now entirely hand-made. Habanos for its part presents the range as rolled totally by hand, with short filler, with the Elegidos vitola, and the brand has put out regional editions: Short Robusto for the United Kingdom (2010), Siboney for Canada (2015), Selectos No.3 for the United Kingdom (2023).

A British retailer says it is hard to find, production being limited. Habanos gives it as medium in strength, with tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo area; retailers also cite tobaccos from Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta.

For the 2023 Selectos No.3 edition, a retailer gives a print run of 125,000 cigars in 5,000 boxes of 25; Habanos gives, for Siboney (2015), 2,000 boxes of 25.

Where is it rolled? In Cuba the question has a two-storey answer. Since 2002 each Habanos brand has had a mother factory, responsible for leaf selection and blend, and its cigars may be rolled in any of the island's few dozen factories under the mother's supervision; Habanos does not publish that map, the trade press reconstructs it. The trade press (2011) names La Corona (Miguel Fernández Roig, in Cerro) as the mother factory of Flor de Cano; Habanos names no factory. Retailers say the 2010 Short Robusto was rolled at La Corona, and the Selectos No.3 (2023) at the El Caney factory in Santiago de Cuba, under La Corona's supervision. In October 2026 habanos.com places it among the 13 other brands of the portfolio (21 portfolio brands, 27 in all with the 6 global ones). The brand's official page gives neither a date nor a founder; it says the range, Elegidos included, is totalmente a mano with short filler, of medium strength, with Vuelta Abajo tobacco. One divergence remains: the 2015 Habanos press release says the Siboney is long filler.
