La Aroma de Cuba

La Aroma de Cuba is a nineteenth-century Cuban name that has made nothing in Cuba for over a century. The brand dates back to the 1880s; its trademarks were lost after the turn of the century, like those of dozens of Cuban houses sold, traded or simply forgotten.

The Levin family, owners of Ashton — which this atlas holds — recovered the rights in the 1990s and relaunched the brand in the early 2000s, with Honduran production.

The turning point is 2009. José "Pepin" García entirely reblended it and production moved to My Father, in Estelí: Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, wholly Nicaraguan filler. That is the version that made the brand's success, and it is what justifies its place under Nicaragua rather than Honduras or Cuba.

The house also counts Winston Churchill among its early smokers, in the Cuban period. That is an old sales argument, which no independent source establishes — the same one Vargas makes in the Canaries. This atlas reports it to whoever asserts it, and does not adopt it.

In Germany as in Switzerland, the brand is sold under the name La Aroma del Caribe. In October 2026, the German retailer Cigarworld offers it under that name, with My Father Cigars S.A. as manufacturer and M. K. & Söhne, in Rellingen, as importer, in series including Mi Amor. A cigar analysis page links it to Ashton, the brand being known in the United States as La Aroma de Cuba. In Switzerland, the Pasion Churchill is listed as available from March 2023 at the importer The Royal Cigar Company.
