Don Zuarin

Don Zuarin is the house brand of Steffen Brinkmann, a tobacconist who opened his shop in Schwerin in 1998 under the name Tobaccohouse Brinkmann, since renamed BRINKMANNfinest. He created Don Zuarin in 2022, a name he says is drawn from Zuarin, a medieval Slavic form of Schwerin attested in the Annals of Pöhlde in the twelfth century. The cigars are hand-rolled in Nicaragua, in a factory the house does not name.

The blend was developed with master blender Kurt Brandt, says the house. Brandt had previously created the brands Isthmus, discontinued in 2019, and Flor Real, and moved his production from Costa Rica to Estelí in 2009, says Smokersplanet.de. In September 2026, the catalogue comprises several editions: the Edición Privada, an all-Nicaraguan blend the house describes as woody and leathery, in five formats from Petit to Magnum; the Edición Barberpole, a two-tone wrapper of Sumatra Colorado and Ecuadorian Connecticut rolled in Entubado — a method the house also says is known as the old Cuban style —, in Gigante (6 x 58); the Claro Edition, in a light wrapper, in Double Toro; the Friendship Edition, in Robusto Extra and Double Robusto; and the Rugia Edition, named for the Baltic island of Rügen, in Robusto.
