Kopp Tobaccos is a family-run German distributor based near Hamburg, tracing back to a business started by Martin Wess on 15 April 1919; Oliver and Thilo Kopp, his great-grandsons, have been its sole owners since 2023, says halfwheel. The house distributes brands such as My Father in Germany and, since 2026, Perdomo, and also sells pipe tobacco under its own name.
Dios del Sol, announced on 15 October 2025, is its first cigar of its own, developed by Oliver Kopp. The cigar, rolled in Honduras, combines a Honduran Connecticut wrapper, a Honduran broadleaf binder and a filler blending tobaccos from Jamastrán (Honduras) and Jalapa (Nicaragua); it comes in six vitolas, from Half Corona to Churchill, under the range name El Principio, ‘the beginning’.
The factory that rolls it is not disclosed, reports halfwheel: Kopp Tobaccos describes it as an old, well-known family of the cigar industry, without naming it. No media outlet says any more, including when the cigar reached the United States via the distributor Arango Cigar Co. in 2026.
