Cuervo y Sobrinos says it traces back to Havana, where the Asturian Ramón Fernández Cuervo opened a jewellery shop in 1862; his six nephews joined him in 1882, the year the house treats as its official founding. It places its golden age in the 1950s and says it counted Caruso, Churchill, Einstein, Gable, Hemingway and Neruda among its clients. The house is today a watchmaker, with its head office and workshop in Capolago, Switzerland.
In 2023, Cuervo y Sobrinos launched a cigar line entrusted to Cigar Conexion, led by Fernando Navarro, in partnership with Tabacalera Pages: the cigars, made with Cuban-seed tobacco, are hand-rolled in Estelí, Nicaragua. The house does not say how the two partners divide the manufacturing. The launch came in stages: Japan in June 2024, Switzerland in July, then Europe, announced on 25 September 2024.
In September 2026, the house's website presented four vitolas — Toro, Mareva, Perfecto Press and Robusto — and a separate series, Historiador.
