Crux was born in a Minnesota cigar shop, not on a plantation. Joel Rodgers and Jeff Haugen were its co-owners; in 2014 they crossed to the other side of the counter and created their brand. It is a path this atlas often sees — Sindicato took it as a group, Crux took it as a pair.
The cigars are rolled at Plasencia, in Estelí, under the eye of Nestor Plasencia, whose entry this atlas carries. Crux never had a factory and does not claim one: what it brings is the choice of blends and the habit of the counter — knowing what an enthusiast asks for, because one sold it to him for years.
The catalogue is wide for a house of this size: Epicure and its Habano and Maduro variants, Bull & Bear, Guild, Passport, Limitada, Du Connoisseur, Marblehead. A retailers' brand become a brand, rolled in one of Nicaragua's great factories.
