Chinchalero is founded in 2011 by John Atherton, who spent several years with General Cigar's international division, says Cigarworld.de. The name refers to the chinchales, the small workshops where cigars are traditionally rolled.
The cigars, longfillers, are rolled entirely by hand in Nicaragua; the house does not name the factory, nor the city where it is located.
As of September 2026, the catalogue comprises three lines, says Cigarworld.de: Classic, said to be milder, with a blue band; Torcidos, with a double wrapper, light Connecticut and dark Maduro; Mezcla 40, under an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, with sweet and spicy notes. A fourth line, Reserva de Oro, with a red band, no longer appears there.
