Honduras

The name comes from Cuba, where the brand was born in the early twentieth century. The non-Cuban version is Honduran: it is rolled at HATSA — Honduras American Tobacco — in Danlí, one of the two factories the Villazon family ran in the country. General Cigar bought Villazon in 1997 for 81.4 million dollars.

The Cofradia blend takes its name from the other Villazon factory. It is the work of Estélo Padrón, production manager of the HATSA plants: an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper, a US Connecticut Broadleaf binder, Honduran and Nicaraguan filler.

In October 2024 Scandinavian Tobacco Group withdrew this brand from its price list, along with El Rico Habano and Helix. The Danlí factory still runs; the band is no longer made. This entry is now an archive entry.
