BIN Cigar — PT Boss Image Nusantara — was born in 2013 in Jember, the tobacco town of East Java, on the initiative of Abdul Kahar Muzakir, a man of fifty years in tobacco, now deceased, who wanted to take the Indonesian cigar international. His bet was agricultural before it was commercial: to acclimatise in Jember a Cuban-seed variety, the Havana, and grow it in East Javanese soil — the local press says it took, keeping its character.
Until then Jember exported mostly its raw leaf, the Besuki Na-Oogst tobacco the whole world buys for wrappers; BIN rolls its own, by hand, and sells it under its name. The house says it exports to twelve countries and relies on twenty-seven Indonesian embassies to make itself known; in 2025 it was aiming at the United States. The entry attributes these figures to the Indonesian press that publishes them, and to the house.
BIN is from Jember, like Golden Djawa and the factories of Villiger and Burger Söhne, which their Swiss entries name.
